ITN PCR6

Client:

ITN

Location:

London

Budget

£300,000

Size:

55m²

Job:

Create a 21st century control room

Challenges:

This was a 20 year-old PCR that had multiple challenges to overcome, with poor lighting, a lack of air conditioning, no sound isolation, poor decor and an out of date IT structure. The sprinkler system was holding up the ceiling in some areas.

What we did:

Working with DB Broadcast and ITN engineering, we created a truly functional workspace that is also designed to enhance the working environment for the team. Cabling was managed sequentially, but probably the most important upgrade was to the acoustics, with slab to slab acoustic panelling along with a new ceiling and the addition of acoustic doors into the adjacent SCR room.

A customised control desk was installed and functional aspects such as a sprinkler system and a new resilient power supply brought the whole area up to date.

Result:

The whole project was completed within the original 5 week timescale. This area has been fully upgraded with new carpets and decorating, providing a fully functioning PCR that is also a great working environment for the ITN team.
